Question: Andon and Fonta called one another Sonta-an and Sonta-en. Why do we call them Andon and Fonta?

Answer: Andon and Fonta are the only personalities in TUB given two different sets of names; that's a clue for the reader pointing to the etymological coining of names by the revelators. The names Andon and Fonta gave one another would have no etymological significance except in their own primitive language. In English however the names Andon and Fonta have been coined to give additional meaning about who they were.

The unique names given in The Urantia Book are not meaningless strings of letters -- because the revelators gave TUB in the English language the coined words are etymologically revealing in English; they're another facet of the revelation. The roots, prefixes and suffixes are obtained from European languages (for the most part English).

There's a partial etymological study available on the Truthbook.com site at http://www.truthbook.com/index.cfm?linkID=631

The significance of English being the chosen language for the revelation also makes the difficulty in producing meaningful translations in other languages apparent. Many of the facts may be retained but many more of the truths are surely to be lost in translation.
